Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2010 to Jeff Smisek, the Chairman, President
and Chief Executive Officer of Continental Airlines, Inc. to mark the notable
work he and the company have done in building the business relationships between
America and Ireland. The award will be the centerpiece of the Council’s 48th Annual
Dinner to be held at the Metropolitan Club in New York City on Thursday, November
11, 2010. Each year, the Council presents this award to an individual who
has made a significant contribution to enhancing the economic relationships between
America and Ireland.

The Council’s annual program of Student
Work Experience Scholarships for 2010 will be celebrated this year at an awards
luncheon to be held at The River Club in New York City on Thursday, June 10,
2010. Council President Dennis D. Swanson, in releasing details of this
year’s scholarship awards, said "We have operated this successful and admired Scholarship
Awards program for the past 26 years. Opportunities are provided through the program
to student undergraduates from third-level educational institutions on the island
of Ireland to travel to the United States and to work temporarily in American corporations.
The scholarships provide work assignments in business corporations of differing
sizes in America. These assignments are linked to the fields of study and academic
disciplines which the undergraduate scholars are pursuing in Ireland."

New York, NY; March 29, 2010: The Spring Corporate Lunch hosted by the Ireland-U.S.
Council to be held Thursday, May 6 at Dublin ’s Four Seasons Hotel will feature
a double-bill Guest Speaker platform. The Chief Executive of the Dublin Airport
Authority Declan Collier will address the group and will highlight how the new €400
million ($540 million) Dublin Airport Terminal will boost Ireland’s air bridge to
America. Also appearing at the speaker’s podium at the Council lunch will be the
noted and distinguished American commentator, Ms. Lee Cullum.

on the matter as part of the review process that was conducted by Ireland's Ambassador
to the U.S., Michael Collins and Ambassador/Consul General in New York, Niall Burgess.

which, if implemented, will enhance the relationships between America and Ireland.

Ireland-U.S. Council Schedules Mid-February Winter Meeting Events In Palm Beach
The Ireland-U.S. Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing links,
especially business connections, between America and the Emerald Isle will again
stage its Annual Winter Meeting in Palm Beach during the second week of February.
The program of social events will include remarks by several Guest Speakers including
the Provost of Trinity College Dublin, Dr. John Hegarty, Ireland’s Ambassador to
the United States, His Excellency Michael Collins and Ireland’s Minister for Education,

Council Seeks New Program Of Work Permits for American Citizens
in Ireland
The Council has asked the Government in Ireland to introduce a program of work visas
for American students, and those in America already working in their career fields,
to experience the workplace in Ireland, for a certain limited period of, say, 18
months to two years. Currently, no such visa program exists.

The Council's Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2007 was presented to
Philip Lynch, Chairman & CEO of One51 plc, one of Ireland's leading energy and waste
infrastructure companies. The award was presented at the Council's 45th Annual Dinner
held in November 2007 at The Metropolitan Club in New York.
