The Council’s Golf Day featured a special Connie Doolan
Memorial Golf Trophy sponsored by Diageo and Guinness USA.
Council Golf Day in New York
It was a bright and sunny day in July this year when the Council staged its Annual
Golf Day with a full-field event at Rye Golf Club in Rye, New York.
The course-capacity turnout enjoyed a wonderful day of competition, fine weather,
excellent prizes and beautiful views at this 126-acre facility in America's smallest
city - the City of Rye. The challenging 18-hole Devereux Emmet course is the only
golf course in Westchester County with holes directly on the shores of Long Island
Sound.
A buffet dinner and prizes galore were available after the round of golf for Council
members and their guests. The post-golf festivities were staged in Whitby Castle,
the historic stone building located on the Rye Golf Club campus, which was designed
in 1852 by architect Alexander Jackson Davis.
As part of the Council Golf Day, Diageo and Guinness USA sponsored a special Connie
Doolan Memorial Golf Trophy in memory of the late Connie Doolan. Connie was a much-admired,
long-time and dedicated member of the Council who passed away earlier this year.
